Studio World’s Edge and TiMi Studio Group recently revealed that they are collaborating to bring Empire (Age of Empires) to mobile devices, with a planned release in 2024. Age of Empires Mobile will be a free-to-play strategy game with in-game purchases, including items to speed up building and resource gathering.

Like the PC games, Age of Empires mobile also features base-building, empire-building, combat, and real-time strategy elements. But this is not really an RTS game but a combination of different strategic mechanics and brings certain customizations to mobile devices. Players can choose from civilizations belonging to the Chinese, Roman, Frankish and Byzantium empires. Players will also be able to compete side-by-side and head-to-head in 1v1 gameplay and larger siege battles. More content will be added to the game.

Age of Empires Mobile is being made by TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent and is also the studio that develops Call of Duty Mobile, Honor of Kings and Pokemon Unite. TiMi Studio is also the official publisher of Age of Empires Mobile. The developer said the mobile version can be considered a completely new product of the legendary strategy game series, designed specifically for mobile users. Some of the differences will include reducing the number of player-controlled combat units and their frequency, and adding smart assist to help with controls during battles and make the user interface easier to control. Easier to use throughout the game. TiMi Studio’s goal is to help players focus more on strategic planning instead of fiddling with the UI.

Fans can pre-register for an Age of Empires Mobile account on iOS and Android now. The game has not yet announced a release date, but according to the product information on the iOS page, Age of Empires Mobile is expected to launch on August 19.
