Dragon’s Dogma 2’s launch was met with criticism for its performance and paid DLC

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has officially arrived. Despite receiving much praise from critics, Action role-playing game newest of Capcom still frustrates many players with microtransactions and performance issues. The developer added a series of microtransactions that could affect gameplay after reviews of the game were published. This has dragged Dragon’s Dogma 2’s rating down to the “Mixed” level above Steam.

55% of the more than 22,000 user reviews of Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Valve’s platform are against the move to add Paid DLC into the single-player game costs $70 USD. These DLCs include things like items that allow the resurrection of the dead or the Art of Metamorphosis – Character Editor, a one-time use item that allows the player’s Arisen character to be changed in appearance.

Besides criticism of the DLC, Dragon’s Dogma 2 also faced performance issues, the most painful of which was frame rate. Some players have taken it upon themselves to solve the above problem by killing a series of NPCs to reduce CPU load. The developer has acknowledged the game’s performance issues and said it will address the issues and fix bugs in future patches. Capcom also once again confirmed that they are looking to improve the game’s frame rate.

Additionally, Capcom also provided an explanation about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s paid DLC, sharing a list of DLC items that can be purchased or “farmed” in the game. The developer is looking to add a feature to the Steam version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 that would allow players currently playing to restart the game.

Despite the controversy, Dragon’s Dogma 2 still attracts attention. The game has reached 200,000 online players, surpassing the record of other single-player games from Capcom such as Resident Evil 4 or Resident Evil Village.
