Assassin’s Creed will be adapted into a live-action movie?

Although no major news was shared during E3 2021 however it seems Ubisoft is still very enthusiastic about expanding the Assassin’s Creed universe. First released in 2007, Assassin’s Creed immediately created a big hit, to date this series has sold more than 155 million copies worldwide. According to Variety’s exclusive news, the company is collaborating with Netflix to produce live-action for this famous IP.​

According to Variety, screenwriter Jeb Stuart has officially joined the production team of the Assassin’s Creed television series and will participate in developing the script for the film. Jeb Stuart is a seasoned writer in both film and television, having been a screenwriter for films such as Die Hard, Another 48 Hours, The Fugitive and most recently Vikings: Valhalla. Netflix – spin-off part of the Vikings series.

If this news is true, this will not be the first live-action Assassin’s Creed movie. In 2016, the movie Assassin’s Creed with the participation of Michael Fassbender was released, but it did not make a splash when it only earned 240.7 million USD while the production budget was up to 125 million USD. .​

Currently Netflix and Ubisoft are collaborating on many other categories. Netflix recently announced that it has ordered an animated series adaptation of Far Cry called Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. Variety also reported last year that Netflix was developing the Splinter Cell animated series. In addition, a film version of The Division starring Jake Gylenhaal and Jessica Chastain is also being produced.​
