The insect disaster in Helldivers 2 has evolved to a new level, making gamers cry

Let’s pause for a moment to take stock of how much has happened in our world Helldivers 2 since it launched. First, the player is tasked with destroying the insect disaster that is spreading across the planets at the right edge of the galaxy. Then, they realized that on the left flank, killer robots also began to attack and endanger Super Earth. The Helldivers fought heroically, only to fall on a planet likened to the jungle of Vietnam. Undeterred, they quickly regained their spirit and counterattacked on the exosuit production planet, winning and unlocking the mech. Just as the Automatons seemed to subside, the Terminid bugs began to emerge and attack harder. The Super Earth government issues a new Major Order, activating the “Terminid Control System” to wipe out bugs from the surface of four planets in the Umlaut Sector, creating a perimeter to protect humanity from potential dangers. All of this happened within just a month since the game’s launch, making players both excited about the new content and busy because there’s so much to do. However, it seems that Arrowhead Game Studios does not intend to stop, as the Terminid has just evolved a new form.

While players are struggling to wipe out the bugs and activate the “Terminid Control System” in the Umlaut Sector, their enemies also begin to evolve. Scattered in several places on the battlefield, a series of flying bugs suddenly appeared and attacked the players, confusing them because information about them had never been officially announced. Even Johan Pilestedt, the studio’s CEO, denied rumors about this flying bug.

It’s an incredibly interesting approach. Just like the “stupid” generals in many science fiction movies, always denying information about new dangers appearing on the battlefield and putting countless of their soldiers in danger. Pilestedt even claimed that according to the Ministry of Truth (which is apparently a propaganda committee within Super Earth’s government), it was just propaganda from bug sympathizers to “brainwash” the ” good people”.

The community, as always, began to “get into character” and play along, constantly “reporting” any signs of new enemies to the Ministry of Truth, while others “attempted to persuade” Pilestedt about the appearance of flying bugs. The most convincing evidence is that flying bugs appear in Helldivers 2’s promotional artwork, but Pilestedt denied that those were images edited by “traitors”.

Although Pilestedt was “stubborn” and “refused to admit” the truth, it was clear that flying bugs had appeared, making the Helldivers’ situation even more miserable. They are certainly potential threats and will cause a lot of damage to Helldivers if not vigilant. Or is it just that the writer has been “brainwashed”, and flying bugs don’t actually exist?
