Today, Sony and Insomniac have confirmed that the PlayStation-5 exclusive open-world superhero action title, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will receive a major, free update in “early 2024.” This Big Update will include features requested by fans.
Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5 is a great game and is among the best games released this year. Players can freely fly around in a New York city twice as large as its predecessor, new characters, quality side missions… all of which meet the expectations of fans of the series. However, when it launched in October, the game still lacked some features and options that players really wanted, including New Game+. Before the game launched, Insomniac suggested that an update, adding all of the above (and more), would be released before the end of 2023. However, it seems that the launch time of that update will be “delayed” a bit.
On December 13, Insomniac Games announced that Spider-Man 2’s next big update is in the works, but it needs to be “Test more” to “ensure quality meets standards.” As a result, the studio is aiming to release the update in “early 2024” and lists some of the features that fans have been looking forward to..
Insomniac revealed that this update not only adds New Game+ but has even more features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap colors when using symbiote powers, and replay missions specific service. Not only that, the studio also said that this is not all they plan to add to Spider-Man 2 on PS5 next year.

While some fans may be disappointed that the update has been postponed to next year, the delay hasn’t actually received too much pushback. Above all, most gamers understand that with Insomniac’s reputation, more time means the quality of the Big Update will be even more guaranteed.
