Helldivers 2’s continued success is somewhat surprising. The original Helldivers has long fallen out of favor, but, like Palworld last month, Helldivers 2 is seizing its moment in the spotlight and it seems like more and more gamers are curious about the game. Just yesterday, Helldivers 2 surpassed Destiny 2’s all-time concurrent players on Steam. Considering the scale of Arrowhead Game Studios when compared to a developer like Bungie, that’s an impressive achievement and those numbers look set to increase over the next few days.
Indeed, Helldivers 2 today officially surpassed two giants, Fortnite and Call of Duty, to become the top game on PSN in the US. As more and more reviews of Helldivers 2 roll in, gamers are starting to realize how exciting Arrowhead Game Studios’ title is. Of course, only time will tell how long it can maintain this momentum.
While these records are obviously impressive, the game is also facing a major problem that prevents it from achieving more success. Currently, many players are having difficulty playing Helldivers 2 due to the 450,000 player limit on both PC and PS5, due to server capacity. This is understandable, because even the developer did not expect the game to be so successful. However, that means that until this issue is resolved, there will always be a maximum limit to the maximum number of Helldivers 2 players. However, the studio behind Helldivers 2 is also hiring more people to ease the workload after the game’s success and hopes that it won’t be too long before the server issues are resolved.
