Assassin’s Creed Red will overhaul the parkour system, animations and have Ray-Tracing?

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red officially revealed in September 2022 at the event Ubisoft Forward. Before the game was announced, the fan community spent years demanding a game set in feudal Japan. Although Ubisoft’s 2022 announcement responded to fan calls, the developer has been relatively tight-lipped about the new game since then.

While Ubisoft has remained silent, some unofficial details about Assassin’s Creed have emerged Red appeared online. Insider Gaming recently posted an article mainly revolving around the change in game development tools. More specifically, Red will use an updated version of the Anvil engine, Ubisoft’s internal tool called Anvil Pipeline. The new engine is said to support full ray tracing making Codename Red the first game in the Assassin’s Creed series to feature Ray-Tracing.

The engine switch was likely motivated by Ubisoft’s desire to streamline the development process for future games of the AC franchise. Up until now, many of the company’s Assassin’s Creed studios have primarily worked on their own Anvil branch. Although standardizing the above technology can help shorten the development cycle of future products, it also requires modifications to some previous core platforms. Therefore, Assassin’s Creed Red is likely to undergo one overhaul complete animation and many core systems like parkour or dynamic weather.

The new game’s combat elements are said to resemble the battles of Valhalla. Red will have a lot of bloody scenes, including beheadings. Regarding stealth gameplay, the game will have a number of mechanisms such as allowing players to extinguish torches, hide in foliage and lie prone at will.

In addition, the hideout in the new game will have many changes compared to Valhalla. Players will be able to customize AC Red’s hideout in greater detail and decide on everything from exterior decoration of buildings to interior display arrangements such as weapons and armor. According to Ubisoft’s latest financial report, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is targeting a November 2024 release.
