“10 cents” expands again, owning the most “brain hacked” game developer in history

Tencent continues to make a major acquisition in the West and this time, the Chinese giant has bought a stake in Yagera developer from Germany, is famous for the game Spec Ops: The Line (launched in 2012).

After purchasing a large amount of shares in the studio Klei Entertainment – the father of the game Don’t Starve – and poured a large investment into developer 10 Chambers, Tencent continues to pay attention to Yager. Tencent’s interest in Yager is not news. In early 2020, the Chinese corporation joined Yager’s board of directors through a small investment with the desire to profit from the potential game. The Cyclewhich promises to be a new step forward in the battle royale genre.

The above investment has helped strengthen Tencent’s foothold in the Yager studio. Yager managing director Timo Ullmann revealed the news while noting that The Cycle will soon be re-released with a new interface and experience based on player feedback.

Mr. Ullmann said the investment is a good thing because the studio can guarantee human resources, despite complications in the development process of other projects. Dead Island 2 is a prime example of understaffing.

Tencent is currently investing in and owning shares of many game developers and publishers such as Riot Games, Remedy, Sumo Digital, Epic Games, Blizzard, Supercell, Platinum and Ubisoft.
