Remnant 2: Losomn plot and DLC The Awakened King (Part 2)

Losomn is in fact a fusion of the two worlds of the Fae and the Dran, with two different plot lines similar to the other worlds of Remnant 2. To begin, we will have to find the source of it all.

Background

Since ancient times, in the world of the Fae, there has always existed a god, a Guardian. The One True King. He witnessed the birth of the Fae with his own eyes, saw them rise from the ashes of a storm. The One True King loves this species, and wishes to bring them a civilized and prosperous life. However, born from storms, the Fae are inherently a brutal, impulsive species, hunting not only for food, but also for fun. Wanting to bring civilization to such a species is not easy, and The One True King did it with an iron hand.

With his harsh laws, The One True King led this warlike species and led them to a civilized, prosperous life, expressed through luxurious castles, shining armor, the same magic that allows them to create portals in their world.

But, the nature of the Fae is that it is a warlike species and craves freedom, so dissatisfaction has always existed throughout the reign of The One True King. At some point quite close to the time when Remnant 2 begins, a conspiracy is hatched against this powerful king.

The Imposter King, they called him, whispered sweet words into the ears of those closest to The One True King, bewitching them that only with his death could the Fae be free. Convinced by those whispers, Nimue, a goddess under The One True King, created a knife that could kill him. However, at the last minute, Nimue changed his mind and revised the enchantment on the knife, making it only able to put him into an eternal sleep. After that, the knife was given to one of the three members of the Council of Judges, those most trusted by The One True King. That person successfully stabbed the knife into the king’s neck, and made him fall into an eternal dream. The Imposter King was just waiting, immediately seizing the opportunity to take over the throne, becoming an Imposter King as people call him.

However, everyone underestimated the influence of The One True King on the world of the Fae. As soon as he fell asleep, their world began to merge with that of another species, the Dran. Unlike Fae, Dran is a fairly peaceful species, with a relatively developed civilization, equivalent to the 19th century on Earth. However, the merger between the two worlds caused the majority of the Dran population to go crazy, become hostile and ready to kill any stranger. The more unlucky ones, still maintaining their sanity, saw the Fae flying everywhere, and became crazy in the eyes of their compatriots. They were hunted, captured, burned alive…or even worse.

Nightweaver story line

When entering Losomn, depending on where the starting point is, players will have access to one of two story lines in this world. If starting in Morrow Parish, which is also the world of the Dran people, the Traveler will be immediately attracted by the screams emanating from a nearby Mental Hospital, but the gate is locked and the player is forced to must find another way in.

(IMG)

If he escapes the crazy Dran people and follows the children wandering the streets of Morrow Parish, the Traveler will meet the Prophet, a rare person who understands all that is going on. She will tell the Traveler about the union between the two worlds, as well as mention the Nightweaver, who is terrorizing the entire Dran species, and comes from the other world.

Nightweaver is in fact also the Fae Goddess of Sleep, and sister to Nimue. Because of the fusion between the two worlds, Nightweaver from a beautiful goddess became a terrible devil, haunting the sleep of the Dran people, bringing nightmares and taking their lives. The Traveler then fell prey to her, and with Nimue’s help, defeated the Nightweaver and obtained a Segment.

The Imposter King story line

If starting Losomn with Palace Courtyard, players will have access to the story line of The Imposter King. Here, the player will meet the Council of Judges, and they will ask them to find out which of the three people assassinated the king. The Traveler will then have to find the king’s body, and pull out the knife stuck in his neck. On the knife will be the mark of the assassin. If the right person is found, that person will be executed immediately, if wrong, all three will attack, and the player must defeat them if they want to survive.

While exploring Fae castles, players will have to find two masks to attach to the stone pedestal in front of the castle door. Only then can players enter the presence of The Imposter King. It turns out that not only Nightweaver but also The Imposter King was affected by the merger between the two worlds. He was split into two beings, Faelin and Faerin, representing the two civilized, divine sides and the wild, dark sides of the Fae species. Both Faelin and Faerin claim to be the king of the Fae. The Traveler will have to choose one of the two to obey and kill the other. Regardless of who they choose, the player will receive Losomn’s Segment after defeating him.

DLC The Awakened King

In the DLC, players will return to Losomn and start in Forlorn Coast, a coastal city engulfed by a giant storm. Here, players will encounter Leywise, the Scribe of The One True King in the past, and learn that the king has awakened. Leywise now had to pretend to be Dran, because the king after waking up became frustrated and crazy. He believed that the Fae had betrayed him, and decided to abandon this species, even ordering his loyal servants to massacre and exterminate them. On the contrary, the Dran race seemed to begin to receive favor from the king, and many of them became fanatics of his great power.

(IMG)

Through many hardships, the Traveler will finally meet The One True King, and find him extremely angry. The king imprisoned Nimue, the goddess who created the knife that put him in a deep sleep. The One True King commanded the Traveler to execute Nimue, and the Traveler accepted. Meeting Nimue again, the Traveler learned that it was she who awakened The One True King because she regretted her previous actions, but did not expect that the betrayal had driven the king crazy. As soon as he awoke, the king imprisoned Nimue, and ordered the slaughter of all the rest. Here, the Traveler can choose to obey the king or spare the goddess. Either way, the king will go crazy and attack the player. Defeating The One True King, the Traveler finally puts an end to the once prosperous dynasty of the Fae, but what happens next?

(IMG)

To get the secret ending, the player needs to meet The Red Prince before or after defeating the king. A long time ago, The One True King had a Queen, a beautiful Fae girl that he loved very much. The two had a child together, and that was The Red Prince. Half God, half Fae, The Red Prince also believes that The One True King’s rule over the Fae is wrong and wants to take the throne for himself. With the player’s help, The Red Prince has his wish granted, and ushers in a new dynasty for the wild Fae race. Leywise, The One True King’s former Scribe, has now returned to The Red King’s command and serves him.

Hypothesis

There are still many mysteries about the world of Losomn, but most likely we will have to find out or guess for ourselves, because Remnant 2, as expected, will only have 2 more DLCs which will almost certainly be about 2 The remaining worlds are Yaesha and N’Erud. When The One True King woke up, where did The Imposter King go? What will be the fate of the Dran species after the death of The One True King? The Fae world has a Guardian, The One True King, and where is the Guardian of the Dran world? And there are countless other unanswered questions.

Among the above questions, GameHub would like to take the liberty of making a guess about the true identity of The Imposter King. During the DLC, players will have the opportunity to enter Leywise’s room if they find the room key hidden in his book. Here, the game’s biggest secret will probably be revealed. In his diary, Leywise mentioned whispering in the ears of the members of the Council of Judges to turn them against each other, so that he could take the opportunity to become a Judge of The One True King. However, things seem to have gone too far, and Nimue is also involved.

(IMG)

Leywise did not elaborate, but is it likely that his whispers, which only pit the Judges against each other, became a plot to assassinate The One True King with Nimue’s participation? When the incident happened, maybe he took the opportunity to transform into The Imposter King and take the throne (because The Imposter King always wears a mask). When the king woke up, he was so scared that he immediately disguised himself as a Dran and fled to the harbor, intending to sail far away when the storm passed. When The Red King ascends the throne, Leywise once again returns to his role as the Royal Scribe, and is there any other plot hatched?

Of course, the above hypothesis is just GameHub’s speculation, and only time can give the exact answer. In the next part, we will learn about Yaesha and N’Reud’s backstory. For now, goodbye and see you soon!
