A Realm Reborn came out a long time ago, but most players Final Fantasy 14, whether old or new, will know it as a “factory reset” for this game. When FF14 just released and criticized by both critics and players, Naoki Yoshida and his team were given the responsibility to save the game. They accomplished that miracle, by wiping out the entire continent of Eorzea with a furious blow from the sky by Bahamut. After that, the entire game was rebuilt and strongly revived, becoming one of the best MMORPGs ever.
More than a decade later, it appears that Yoshida is planning the same thing for the expansion Dawntrail Going forward, when desired it will also serve as a “rebirth” for Final Fantasy 14, although it will bring a lot less death and suffering. In a recent interview with Famitsu (translated by Twitter user aitakimochi and RPG Site), Yoshida talked about how Dawntrail will not serve as a story progression but more as a demonstration of the developers’ at CBU3 has improved over the years.
Yoshida stated that Dawntrail will be “three or four times more believable” than anything players have seen before, and that the drastic change in quality will mark a change in direction for Final Fantasy 14. All Of course, Dawntrail’s story will still be full of twists and turns, introducing new characters and locations to Warrior of Light, but it seems that Yoshida’s plan is to make the upcoming expansion a reboot with new features. New features have been announced.
The new job Viper seems like it will be a speed-oriented melee class
For example, the expansion introduced two new jobs, Viper and Pictomancer, as well as the addition of a female Hrothgar, showing that Yoshida and his team are working hard to improve gameplay. Additionally, the impressive graphical update that’s in the works also implies that Dawntrail will focus more on content than story. With a decade of experience in developing Final Fantasy 14, game makers will obviously want to use them to improve the game in the best way to prepare for the next decade.
Pictomancer will be a magician class that uses paint as a means to perform magic
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a specific release date for Dawntrail, just a vague date for Summer 2024. In return, a ton of new content is coming before then, including introduces a new female Hrothgar character named Wuk Lamat, who players can access in Patch 6.55 on January 16.
