Brotato reached 1 million Xbox Game Pass installs in less than 20 days

Brotato has been installed more than a million times since its release Xbox Game Pass. Many excellent games have been added Xbox Game Pass the first two months of 2024 and Brotato is one of them. It quickly became the name that caused the most surprises, as this low-budget indie game made a great impression on most players.

Brotato was added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on January 30. Brotato is essentially a top-down shooter roguelite in which players control angry potatoes who use guns to fight with aliens. Characters can wield up to six weapons at once and choose between several distinct skills and items to personalize their fighting style. Gameplay is similar to Vampire Survivors, as shooting is done automatically and the main goal is to avoid waves of enemies to survive as long as possible.

Now, developer Seaven Studio has confirmed that Brotato has been installed over a million times following its release on Xbox and Game Pass. This number appears to include both those who played it with Game Pass and those who bought it for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Another important detail is that the game’s popularity may be even greater than the data shows, as only information about downloads was revealed, and Game Pass subscribers can play via xCloud without download. So, there may be many Brotato players who don’t appear in the company’s install count.

However, this isn’t the only surprise product to appear on Game Pass this year. Released into early access in January, Palworld has also been a big hit on Game Pass. According to the developers, Palworld has reached 7 million players on Xbox. However, unlike Brotato, Palworld is a survival game where players can capture and care for Pokemon-inspired Pals, build bases, and explore the wild world at their leisure while hunting or collect ingredients.

This year is looking to be a good year for Game Pass. In addition to Brotato and Palworld, the subscription service also gets critically acclaimed games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Resident Evil 2 and its 3 remakes, Persona 3 Reload and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. However, 2024 has just begun, and there are still many more big games coming to Game Pass in the future, including games like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Stalker 2, Avowed and Indiana Jones and Great Circle…
