Regarding the change in the number of discs, Larian’s publishing director Michael Douse said: “The physical Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will actually have 4 discs, because we have exceeded the 500MB limit with 3 installation discs.” Another solution is to remove content, but the developers don’t want to sacrifice any of their great D&D adventures just to reduce the number of discs. “The only option was to cut out some of the content, but that was pointless,” Mr. Douse explained.
The Deluxe Edition will be released in batches and the first batch is expected to ship soon. In another tweet, Mr. Douse shared that delivery dates may be slightly affected by the above change. The Deluxe Edition includes a variety of items such as a fabric world map, poster, fabric patch, stickers, and a game music CD housed in a beautiful display case. All digital rewards from the Digital Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 are also included with the physical version.
The success of Baldur’s Gate 3 has led to reports that Larian Studios may open another studio in the near future. The developer has partly confirmed the above rumors when calling on experts affected by the wave of layoffs in the gaming industry to apply to their studio.
