Being a Japanese indie game like Palworld Being able to reach 12 million sales in just two weeks of early access release in January is unprecedented. This is the second best-selling Japanese game in Steam history, behind only Elden Ring.

Palworld alone made January a historic moment for Japanese PC games and followed by a series of masterpieces. Tekken 8 launched with very positive reviews and was considered a new generation fighting game, a bombastic arena that players must experience. Although the game’s launch did not attract the same attention as Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 surpassed Mortal Kombat 1 and was hailed as an improvement over Tekken 7.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth SEGA’s release came out the same day as Tekken 8 and sold over a million copies in a week. The publisher shares that this is the best achievement ever for this Wanderer series. This achievement is even more remarkable considering the number of Like a Dragon games that have been released: including spin-offs and remakes, this is the fifth game since 2020.

Games from the land of cherry blossoms seem to continue to dominate the charts in February. Currently, 4/10 best-selling titles on PC come from Japanese developers. On February 2, Persona 3 Reload released on Steam and Consoles worldwide. Even a gacha spin-off version for mobile devices Granblue Fantasy: Relink is also quite successful on PC. Online co-op helped the game reach its highest player count to date of 85,334, according to Steamdb, double Persona 3 Reload’s 42,112.
